Song 12 : Amen

Information:
This Spiritual is fairly quick and comprises of the song 'Amen' and 'This little light of mine'. It is sung by SATB and is divided into 6 sections. Please follow your music when you listen to the recordings.- Section 1 - beginning to end of top line on page 3 - bar 28. After a short piano introduction all parts sing loud. This first section everyone sings Amen sometimes in unison, sometimes in 2 parts and sometimes in 4 part harmony.
Bass:
- Section 2 - Bar 25 (page3) to Bar 44 (page4). After the key change (bar 28) we sing 'This little light of mine'. Sops and Bass sing first part with an answering part by the Altos and Tenors. Then everyone sings 'This light light of mine in harmony.
Bass:
- Section 3 - Bar 44 to Bar 78. The Sopranos introduce a new short phrase with the other parts singing long notes. The bass and Tenor then sing a short phrase followed by everyone singing the new words in harmony.This continues to bar 78.

Section 4 - Bar 78 to Bar 95 (key change). The Bass sing the tune and new words. the other parts sing chords between the tune. Eventually all parts sing the words to bar 94.

Section 5 - Bar 95 (key change) to Bar 110 (page10). We all sing this little light of mine in harmony. This gets louder and louder until the key change at bar 111 it is very loud.

Section 6 - Bar 111 to end. We all sing This little light of mine until at bar 127 we sing Amen in harmony to the end gradually getting louder and louder. The last line is very loud and gets slower and slower.
