Song 9: Cantar by Jay Althouse

    Information:

    This song is in a Spanish style and is fairly quick. There are a few Spanish words but the pronunciation is given at the bottom of the pages.
    It is divided into 4 main parts for each voice.

    Section 1 from the beginning to the top of page 4. The first 2 pages are sung by the four voices in either 2 or 4 part harmony. The next 8 bars are sung in 4 part harmony the altos sing a running sequence getting lower each time. All the words in these 8 bars are in Spanish. At the end of this section there is a piano introduction to thenext section

    Section2 starts on page 4 and ends at the end of the top line on page 6.The first of this is similar to the beginning, The last eight bars are arpeggio passages with the sopranos and tenors singing higher the second time.

    Section4. This is very similar to first pat of section 2. It ends at the bottom of page 7

    At the end of Page 7 there is an instrumental section played by the piano and flute. This is the same as the music from Section 2 ie( bar 29 - bar 52). At the end of this instrumental section everyone begins singing at the end of bar 92(last note on page 10) till the end. This is very similar to what we have sung before. be careful with the louds and softs. It ends very forcibly.
