Song 13: Mary Did you know by B. Green & M. Lowry arr by Jack Schrader

    Information:

This song is fairly quick and there are a number of variations in the volume.

Section 1 from the beginning to the first 2 beats of bar 25.

It begins with an 8 bar piano introduction which is quiet. The ladies then enter singing in unison for the next 4 bars. This is fairly quiet. At bar 9 the men sing the next 4 bars in unison and again this is fairly quiet. The men are just repeating the tune the ladies sang but with different words. All voices then sing medium loud in harmony for 4 bars. Towards the end of the four bars the sound then becomes quieter. The ladies then sing a 2 bar phrase in unison. The men then sing a 2 bar answering phrase in unison.

Section 2 is basically the same as section 1 without the piano introduction and with different words. The odd note is slightly different. This section ends at bar 40. The dynamics are more or less the same as the 1st Section. I have not recorded this section.

Section 3 from a piano introduction from bar 41 to bar 48. The next part begins medium loud (similar to the 2nd part of section 1) but this builds up further and at bars 55 and 56 it is louder and higher. Towards bar 57 it slows down and there is a slight break before we sing section 4.

Section 4 from bar 57 to the end. For the first 8 bar it is sung in 2 part harmony with the ladies singing the melody and the men singing a lower part. The next 8 bars are similar to earlier part in 4 part harmony. There are then several additional bars to end the song. Towards the end there is a slowing down and sound becomes quiter.
